Shelley Thompson
practices in complex business disputes and litigation,
corporate matters, and handles all aspects of Trusts &
Estates and Business Succession matters at Allen & Vellone,
P.C. She also assists clients with probate, charitable
giving, passing on small businesses, contracts, buy-sell
agreements, operating agreements, and prenuptial agreements.
Shelley is a member of the Trusts and Estate Section of the
Colorado Bar Association and the Colorado Planned Giving
Roundtable, and she regularly speaks on planned giving, and
trusts and estates legal issues. Shelley was chosen as a
finalist in 2009 for the Young Professional Award, given by
the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce. Shelley’s

Shelley’s prior experience includes several years of complex
litigation in New York, New York. She performed pro bono
litigation and volunteer work on behalf of foreign-born U.S.
residents, achieving changes to New York law. She has
performed a wide variety of other community work, including
volunteer work for people in need in Denver.
Originally from Denver, Shelley received her Bachelors of
Arts in Political Science from the University of
Colorado at Boulder in 1996 and her Juris Doctor and
Masters of Arts in International Affairs from
American University in Washington D.C. in 2001. Shelley is
licensed to practice law in Colorado and New York. She is
proficient in Spanish.
