James S. Helfrich spent three years in Manhattan as an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. He then moved to Colorado where he worked as an associate at Gersh & Danielson and then as a founding partner at Gersh & Helfrich, LLP. James moved to Allen Vellone Wolf Helfrich & Factor P.C. in November 2010, where he continues to focus in commercial litigation.

Jim has helped hundreds of clients obtain justice in cases involving business disputes, business divorces, securities fraud, unsuitable investments, breaches of contract and fiduciary duty, internet fraud, bankruptcy, civil rights, illegal business practices, Ponzi schemes, real estate disputes, bodily injuries, and medical malpractice.

He has received the highest peer rating from Martindale Hubbell AV®, is a sought-after speaker for continuing legal education seminars, and has been selected by his peers as one of Colorado’s SuperLawyers® annually since 2009.

In addition to his work at Allen Vellone Wolf Helfrich & Factor P.C., Jim coordinates volunteer legal aid clinics at the Denver Rescue Mission, Salvation Army of Denver, Samaritan House, and More Life Center, the Littleton Life Center, and JECOR. He serves on the board of directors of the Justice and Mercy Legal Aid clinic. In 2017, the Christian Legal Society awarded Jim its John Robb Award (lawyer of the year) for his legal aid work.
