The City and County of Denver has moved to Level Yellow on the State’s COVID-19 Dial

On Saturday February 6th, the Colorado health department moved Denver to Level Yellow on the COVID-19 dial.  This move allows for increased capacity limits at many local businesses. Gov. Jared Polis and Jill Hunsacker Ryan, director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, announced the changes in a news conference on Friday, February 5th.

Mayor Michael Hancock also offered words of gratitude to the people of Denver for their efforts in wearing masks and social distancing.  In a statement issued on Friday the 5th, Mayor Hancock said, “I want to congratulate the people of Denver for their tremendous and tireless efforts to help us reduce the spread of the virus in our community and get us one step closer to putting this pandemic in the rear-view mirror.  You are not only saving lives, you are also helping our city transition from rescue to recovery. We’ve still got a long way to go, but we’re getting closer to the end.”

The Level Yellow capacity limits include:

  • 50 percent or 50 people indoors at restaurants (or up to 150 people within their usable space)
  • 50 percent capacity for retail businesses
  • 50 percent or 50 people, whichever is fewer, at gyms and fitness businesses
  • 50 percent capacity at offices (remote work is still encouraged)
